18th Century Dutch Amboyna wood side table

About the Item

Here we have a Dutch side table or lowboy with two drawers with wavy stretchers on bun feet.It also has a lovely shaped top. The special thing about the piece is the fact that the whole table is veneered in burl Amboyna This wood is usually only used in inlay or cross banding .But here we have a whole table in this great wood. Burl Amboyna was one of the most expensive woods ,being part of the Paduok family ,it comes from Indonesia and gets its name from the island of Ambon .Altogether a very decorative and interesting side table. It has later brass but in keeping with the original .
