1910's Art Nouveau Table by Gebrüder Thonet
About the Item
An original Art Nouveau table designed by Michael Thonet and produced as model no. 11611 by Gebrüder Thonet. The table can be found in catalogues dating back to the end of the 19th century, and this particular piece is believed to be produced around 1910’s in Thonet’s factories in parts of Austrian Monarchy that are now part of Czech Republic.
The table is listed in as ‘Notentischchen’ which mean music table as this piece was design to display and store sheet music.
This bijou table has got neatly curved legs, a charming example of the Thonet trademark technique of wood bending. There are two horizontal and four vertical slots for notes or newspapers. The whole piece is in dark brown colour with a nice subtle pattern coming through the wood on all parts.
The table is in great vintage condition with only some minimal wear and patina gained by using over the years. The whole piece has been recently refurbished to its former glory by our experienced restorer who has carried the restoration to the highest standard and by using only the original techniques. The entire piece has been hand finished by Shellac varnish in order to achieve an original dark brown finish.
