This stunning chair has aged beautifully and the original velvet upholstery and wood finish has the perfect patina. Clean and pure lines define this armchair that are coupled with expert craftsmanship. Adopting the trend of abandoning ornamentation to benefit the form, Christensen maintained the beauty and warmth inherent to traditional Danish cabinetmaking. In consequence, this armchair has a beautiful, warm look with rounded edges and an open look. The only ornamentation is the piping cord that runs along the edges of the body.     Important and rare pair of wingback armchairs designed by Eva Koppel in 1947 and manufactured at Slagelse Møbelværk, Denmark. Made from dark stained beech and upholstered in White "Savak" Wool. Eva Koppel was, along with Nanna Ditzel, one of the most prominent female designers in the Danish Modern movement in the mid 20th century. In the late 1930s she studied under Alvar Aalto and together with her husband Niels Koppel she was responsible for several famous buildings in Copenhagen.
