This is an antique occasional table. An English, ebonised side or lamp table in the manner of E.W. Godwin and the Aesthetic movement, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880. Distinctive two tier table with strong Aesthetic period overtones Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Ebonised mahogany presents dark hues beneath a wax polish finish Striking abacus side motif with ball turnings on slender rails Shaped scroll brackets adorn each end Useful undertier with shaped openings to corners Unmarked as such, shows the Japanese influence of Godwin and his contemporaries Crafted in the manner and quality of Liberty, London This is a charming antique occasional table, with strong overtones and distinctive details. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
