Breccia Pontificia The Side Table by ALMARMO
About the Item
Breccia Pontificia The Side Table by ALMARMO
Dimensions: D 40 x W 40 x H 57 cm.
Materials: Polished Breccia Pontificia marble.
“The Side Table” has been designed as a collectible - a unique and vibrant piece that celebrates the singular nature of the stone it is made from. Featuring three tiers with beveled edges, it provides ample possibilities for styling vignettes and displaying your favorite items, yet is bold enough to stand on its own.
This side table is crafted from polished Breccia Pontificia marble, quarried in the Cusde Mountains in Sicily. Characterized by its red and golden-brown veining, Breccia Pontificia is composed of sweeping strokes and unpredictable patterns, manifesting the uniqueness of nature’s creations. An exceptional accent piece for any room, it would look particularly beautiful next to a light source to highlight its magnificent coloring and polished sheen.
OUR VISION
Alma: the Italian word for “soul” meaning enduring life or a feeling or energy as revealed in a work of art. Marmo: the Italian word for “marble.”
Much like a piece of art, each slab of marble is a unique work by nature with a soul, evoking an intellectual and emotional response in the eye of its beholder.
Founders Benedetta Pisani and Carter Inskeep-Rosenfeld’s approach to design and creation starts with their inspired interpretations of the natural stone they have chosen to work with. Coupled with the careful consideration of the functional intention of each piece, their aim is to pay tribute to the singularity of the stone and ensure it will be cherished in its
new home for generations to come.
BACKGROUND
In the world of design and architecture, marble is a much sought-after natural material, revered for its purity, durability, and unique aesthetic qualities. While marble can be found in many places in the world, Carrara is the epicenter of the stone and sculpture industry, home to some of the very finest stone quarries and marble craftsmen in the world. In the quarries of Carrara, blocks of marble are skillfully and respectfully collected, divided into slabs and selected by clients for their design and renovation projects all over the world. While much effort is made in precision calculating and getting the most out of each slab in the cutting process, workshops are often left with extra material.
Growing up in Carrara, Benedetta Pisani has been surrounded by marble yards and workshops filled with eclectic collections of leftover slabs and pieces of stone her entire life. While logistically, she understood there remained too little to be considered for a full, new design project, she knew that what was left was simply too special to be set aside. Benedetta
reached out to her friend and Paris based designer, Carter Inskeep-Rosenfeld, and the two began imagining ways of repurposing and giving new life to these precious, unused materials. The result of their creative collaboration and shared passion for natural stone is the conception of ALMARMO in 2022.
THE CORE COLLECTION
At the heart of ALMARMO is the brand’s core collection of small furniture and décor for the home. All of the core collection designs are crafted with natural stone found on site at ALMARMO’s artisans’ workshop in Carrara where Carter and Benedetta spend time scouring through an abundance of readily available materials in search of inspiration. This thoughtful, local approach to sourcing and production is a key value of the brand’s philosophy and a testament to the unique nature of each piece. Inspired by their selection of stone, Carter and Benedetta work together with a small team of highly-skilled artisans to create pieces that are aesthetically balanced and functional, incorporating considered shapes, lines, textures and finishes to bring the natural beauty and singularity of the stone to light. The result is a collection of one of a kind furniture and home décor pieces meant to infuse craftsmanship, character and soul into the environment of our everyday lives.

Galerie Philia
Galerie Philia is an international contemporary sculptural design and art gallery representing emerging and established designers and artists. The gallery is the brainchild of two brothers who share a lifetime passion for art, literature and philosophy. Their distinct academic background sets them apart from their peers, as it sees them following a rhizomatic and transcultural approach in the way they select works. This involves combining elements from multiple cultures in what becomes a network of harmoniously interconnected roots, ultimately revealing the beauty of each unique creation. The gallery’s non-hierarchical curation sits apart from the ephemerality of trends and focuses instead on the true aesthetic quality of the piece – alluring and timeless. Unlike others, Galerie Philia does not focus on a single style – whether minimalist, organic or raw – but rather embraces heterogeneity. The Galerie Philia takes pride in discovering new talents, providing them with multiple international platforms to showcase their latest creations. As well as propelling the newest generation of 21st century collectible design, Galerie Philia also works with internationally known design artists. Galerie Philia has a strong international presence, with galleries in Geneva, New York and Singapore. In addition to their permanent spaces, the gallery organizes temporary group exhibitions and artists residencies in first-class locations around the world.
