A Ceylonese Ebony & Specimen Wood Occasional Table

About the Item

A Ceylonese Ebony and Specimen Wood Table after a design by Thomas King. The hexagonal top centred by a swirl of specimen woods including palm, satinwood and various specimens of ebony with a roundel to the centre surrounded by chevron banding and a frieze drawer on scrolled foliate base. Losses to the specimen wood inlay to the top (stored in drawer). The design is published in Thomas King's The Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, London, 1829.
