Fine French Art Deco Black and White Egg Shell Lacquer Round Side Table

About the Item

An unusual and rare egg shell lacquer geometric patterned gueridon, round top with three-legged tulip shaped base. Bold patterns of architectural form grace the circular surface and bottom shelf of this elegant tripodal curved legged end table. The highly complex eggshell lacquer technique also called Coquille d'Oeuf was used in ancient Asia and later revived by the French designer Jean Dunand in the 1920s. It involves the application of tiny shards of eggshell placed under the lacquer to create wonderful patterns of design. It was also used by Jacques Adnet, Sandoz and other period designers. Can be used as a pedestal, sofa table, center table, coffee and cocktail table, dessert table, table.
