About the Item
A superb French Art Deco amboyna occasional side table. Circa 1930.
This elegant table has a shaped cushion frieze, standing on walnut reeded legs. It terminates to an outswept scroll and ball foot, joined by a central stretcher of circular form.
The table's top, frieze and stretcher are veneered in decorative amboyna wood - the name is derived from Ambon Island in Indonesia, where much of the figured wood is believed to have been initially exported from. Amboyna is among the most expensive and sought-after of all burls.
The contrasting solid walnut has a greenish tinge to the finish, possibly to resemble bronze.
The table is in excellent clean condition, showing very light signs of wear. It is structurally sturdy, with no loose joints and free from any damage or woodworm.
Delivery is INCLUDED in the price for all areas in MAINLAND England & Wales. Free delivery is restricted to ground and first floor, unless there is a lift the item can fit in. There is an additional charge of £12 per floor for delivery above the first floor via the stairs.
