About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Peculiar and rare walnut wood wall table; it has three shaped shelves supported by four lacquered wooden legs characterized by a graceful wavy design; the upper top has an elegant gilt brass railing that follows the shaping of the top harmoniously while also wrapping around the top of the legs; the other two tops have delicate gilt brass decorations along the edges; the uniqueness of this coffee table is the special workmanship of the tops, which are inlaid with a wide variety of exotic woods of different colors that create an exceptional ensemble and a fantastic color effect. On the upper floor are depicted Renaissance musical instruments: a "bombard" (wooden trumpet), a Pan flute, and a conducting baton adorned with a bow; the other two floors have similar but very elaborate, accurate, and refined decorations. This work of art was created by a true master cabinetmaker in an excellent and meticulous manner between 1820 and 1830 in an artisan workshop in the town of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, a French commune in the department of Isère, nicknamed the furniture town for its ancient tradition of woodworking. The master achieved an object of amazing fineness, the rigor of design, sharpness, and regularity. The masters had much freedom to create the decorative pattern they liked best. For this reason, each inlay is unique. The colors of the marquetry changed depending on the essence, cut, and grain of the wood. These factors, in fact, caused the refraction of light on the surface to varying. The inlay technique, therefore, is very complicated only the most skilled Master cabinetmakers were able to do such difficult workmanship. The coffee table is very light in both form and actual weight; the item is in good condition. Measures width cm.41, depth cm.31, height cm.80. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
