About the Item
A Penny For Your Thoughts Side Table pairs raw copper with welded steel for an elegant and honest piece of design. The powder-coated steel body is pierced by 5/8" thick solid copper rods, left exposed on the top shelf almost like inlaid pennies. These rods support the weight of the steel, creating a strong surface throughout without sacrificing the visual lightness of the 1/8" steel sheet. The powder-coating combines the natural green and red hues of copper that have an almost chameleon-like effect depending on how the light hits it. There is an integrated copper salt well inset in the piece, though jewelry or small objects work just well
Micah Rosenblatt is a Brooklyn-based designer and metalworker. He specializes in sculptural furniture that pairs industrial forms with a whimsical edge.
