Satin side table by Mingardo Dimensions: D53 x H60 cm. Materials: RAL 9005 black varnished iron structure. Brushed and polished natural brass base and top. Weight: 21 kg Also available in different finishes. The metal surface used as support for impressing marks and signs, quite similar to the rocks signed by prehistoric forefathers in the past. In this way the matter keeps a real linguistic code through human intervention. Decorations were represented in a stylised and conventional way also during Neolithic age, so they were considered as simply geometrical motif. So the triangle symbolized life; the lozenge symbolized seeds in a field; the pillar (line) was life-force power and the circle was sun. Matter was scratched and scraped in the past, but now it will be treated by the craftsmanship with an alternation of polishing and matte on different levels. This process will create geometrical signs of instinctive and contemporary interpretation. Mingardo Ilario founded Mingardo Blacksmith Workshop in 1970, after over twenty years’ experience in the metal processing field. The production was initially focused on simple blacksmith works for the construction industry. Over the time, it has become more refined, enabling the company to collaborate with internationally renowned companies and architects: from the first collaborations with architect Carlo Scarpa to the more recent commissions for Museo del Novecento in Milan, Parco della Musica in Florence, and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. Over the years, the Workshop has achieved great results, with the production of unique metal products, all hand-wrought by a highly skilled team of specialized artisans.
