This is an antique sewing table. An English, flame mahogany ladies work table, dating to the late Regency period, circa 1830.
Dashing example, with superb colour and form
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select stocks present fine grain interest throughout
Rich caramel hues dance beneath a wax polish finish
Beautifully figured top lifts to reveal a fitted interior
Suite of compartments finished in quality waxed paper
Three smaller lidded compartments sit to the outer edge of the central lid
Lid removes to aid access to the deep, tapering under box, ideal for fabric storage
Edges accentuated with carved lobe motif, front fascia with inset lock — key absent
Turned supports in pairs raise the table above the base
Standing upon a pair of shaped bracket feet
United with two baluster turned stretcher rails
This is an appealing antique sewing table, with delightful figuring and great colour. Pleasingly presented interior ideal for craft or gaming items. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
