Victorian Chessboard Side Table
About the Item
A Victorian walnut side table with a chessboard decorated top. Whimsical characters on one set of squares are hand painted in gold on faded, lightly colored backgrounds of red, yellow and green. The chess board is framed with a wide border of entwined gold foliage and flowers. Each side has a sliding pull out leaf. In front, are two hand dovetailed drawers that open with mushroom shaped handles. The trestle base is supported with a turned stretcher and moves easily on caster wheels.
