Outstanding & Historical Industrial Steel Table c. 1925 (Signed)

About the Item

An incredible, all-original, steel foundry table circa 1925 manufactured by Textile Machine Works - - see additional info below. An industrial showstopper with its top beautifully antiqued/distressed with patches of rust stains and marbled remnants of layers of paint in black, white and seafoam green, along with plenty of 'scar tissue' and patination that mimics an oil slick (please see images 9 and 10 for best depiction). The tubular legs and rounded feet are equally aged with most of the bare metal exposed. Built like a Sherman tank and extremely heavy, this table is truly multifunctional - - console table, work table or desk, small dining table, center table or even a kitchen island. Please visit our storefront.** ----------------------------------------------------------- Textile Machine Works (TMI) was founded in Reading, PA in 1892 by German entrepreneurs Ferdinand Thun and Henry Janssen. The duo relocated to Wyomissing in 1896 and TMI became the world’s largest manufacture of full-fashioned hosiery machinery (knitting and braiding machines). Their business expanded to include Berkshire Knitting Mills, America ’s largest producer of full-fashioned hosiery, and the Narrow Fabric Company, manufacturer of diversified narrow fabric goods such as lacing, tapes and braid. With the help of Penn State instructors, they began their own education program in 1927 that became the predecessor to today's Penn State Berks. The former TMI properties are now home to the VF Outlet shopping complex, built in 1970.
