18th Century French Baker's Table
About the Item
Imposing 18th century French "Baker's" table rests a large rectangular walnut top atop a sectioned hollow oak trunk on a separate curved base with four legs. The wood top can be lifted to reveal the hull, which was traditionally used as storage. This piece was located in the kitchen of a chateau where it was used as a prep table. Not intended as dining table as there is not enough knee clearance for most, can be used for prep, laying out food, placing objets, etc.
Date: circa 1750
