19th Century French Kingwood & Marquetry Side Table / "Table à Rognon":
About the Item
A very fine and elegant kidney shaped side / occasional table, raised by four delicately scrolled cabriole legs the kidney-shaped table is fitted with a small central lockable drawer. The table top is decorated with a pattern marquetry, while the sides also have marquetry pattern displays. The corner tops of the four cabriole legs are decorated with richly chased gilt-bronze mounts terminating in ormolu sabots.

Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu. Edwards & Roberts was one of the principal London companies working in the taste of the late 18th century. They started business in 1845 and by 1854 were trading as "Edwards & Roberts, 21 Wardour Street, Antique and Modern Cabinet Makers and Importers of Ancient Furniture".
