Antique French Louis XVI Styled Ebonized Jardinière Table with Inset Plaque Top

About the Item

This antique jardinière table is unmarked, but presumed to have been made in England or France is circa 1890 in a Louis XVI style. The table is composed of wood which has been painted black with gold accents. The fitted top features a large oval hand painted porcelain inset dish depicting a forest scene with three musketeers. The gallery and accent beading are done in brass as are the top's handles and front and rear cast decoration. The base stretcher is nicely sculpted and is accented by a large brass finial. The tin liner is missing and there is some distressed panels to the inner cavity of the top, but the table itself is sturdy.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. The tin liner that would have once fitted inside the table is missing and several of the wooden slats across the bottom are broken as presented in the photos and consistent with use. The brass finial across the stretcher appears bent.
