French 19th Century Transitional Style Bonheur du Jour

About the Item

A beautiful and most unique French 19th century Transitional style kingwood, burl walnut, exotic wood, ormolu and onyx Bonheur du Jour. This wonderfully executed piece is raised by elegant cabriole legs with fine fitted warp around foliate ormolu sabots. The front, back and sides each display arbalest shaped aprons while the front and sides display flap down doors. Each door is decorated with beautiful veneered burl walnut, while the front displays a wonderfully executed exotic wood floral marquetry. Each door flaps down to reveal ingenious and most decorative drawers which pull out at each side, decorated with ormolu rosettes and pulls, and open to reveal the upholstered inside. There are also elegant pullouts while above is the original onyx top fitted within a wrap around ormolu gallery.
