Rossana Orlandi Ile Maurice Low Table in Stone by Francesco Messina for Cypraea

About the Item

Designed by Francesco Maria Messina The Rising Ocean collection aims to create awareness about the global issue and to warn that some of the Islands of the Mauritian archipelago are already experiencing severe disasters linked to coral barrier reef death, coastal erosion and more violent cyclones in the recent years. The low tables Ile Maurice is made of natural lava stone, and tempered glass tops are designed to recall the shapes of the island. The peaks that are above the table represent the higher mountains – Piton de la Riviere Noire in Mauritius that would be virtually the only “survivors” of rising ocean waters… The tables aim to create a strong contrast between the clear, transparent wet-looking glass top and the rough lava. Also, the glass tops that represent the ocean surface appear to be floating. Also available in coral stone. Please contact seller to specify which version is desired. Limited Edition of 9 pieces Customizable on request.

  • Terraliquida Low Table, by Claudio Silvestrin for Glas Italia in Stock
    By Claudio Silvestrin, Glas Italia
    Located in Macherio, IT
Terraliquida low table is shown here in the transparent extralight glasss. Low table composed of a parallelepiped Limestone stone with a monolithic appearance and an element in tempered 15 mm. thick glued 45° transparent extralight glass that rests on it. The stone parallelepiped has the sides in a split-face finish, whereas the top is flamed. The materiality, the gravity and the solidity of the stone juxtapose the lightness, the purity and the ethereality of the glass. Born in 1954, Claudio Silvestrin studied under A. G. Fronzoni in Milan and at the Architectural Association in London. His integrity, clarity of mind, inventiveness and concern for details is reflected in his architecture: austere but not extreme, contemporary yet timeless, calming but not ascetic, strong but not intimidating, elegant but not ostentatious, simple but not soulless. Claudio Silvestrin Architects was established in 1989 with offices in London, and since 2006 in Milan also. The work of the practice encompasses real estate developments, newly built houses, spas, private residences, art galleries and museums, domestic and retail interiors and furniture design. Clients include Giorgio Armani, illycaffé, Anish Kapoor, Calvin Klein, Poltrona Frau, Victoria Miro...
