About the Item

~Direct from France~ ~This large antique French tilt-top ‘wine tasting’ table, or “table de vigneron” is also a piece of art, with it’s amazing hand painted front!~ ~ Popular in the wine growing regions of France, this kind of table was used in all the wineries, when connoisseurs tasted the new wines~ ~Traditional design, the round tilt-top table is supported by a rotating lyre shape stretcher. When not in use, the top stands vertically, and the artwork provides an outstanding focal point!~ (An artist in France that painted the table more recently, before we purchased and brought it to the United States) ~Lettering across the table top, “Grand Vin De Bordeaux”, and the lower table, “Chateau Hautes Graves d’Arthus”, which is a “St. Emilion Grand Cru”!!~ ~Huge center design features two stunning rampant lions holding a center crest with a castle, fleur de Lis, and large crown above~ ~The banner below inscribed with “In vino vertas”, which is a Latin phrase that means “in wine lies the truth”~ ~Excellent attention to details by the artist, sturdy construction on the table, classic French style for today’s home, and a sophisticated, relevant addition to any dining room, wine cellar, etc.~ ~circa 1890~ Measurements 47” height x 48.5” x 23” (with table flipped up). Table height in use, 28”. Oval table top size, approx. 39.75” x 48.5”. Footprint on the floor, 28” x 23”. Note: All of our antiques are direct from Europe.
