A rare and unique painted antique English tray of octagon shape embellished with a different gilded chinoiserie design from Edwardian period England, circa 1910 now placed on custom stand to make a tray table or coffee table. This tray was originally used for serving dessert, coffee and tea and retains a paper label on the reverse side of one try identifying it as belonging to Lodge Hill House in Sheringham, Norfolk. The tray has a piercing through the timber that provide hand holds for easy transport while serving anywhere inside or outside the house. A handsome profile with a rounded upper and lower border that contains a recessed solid panel in between the edges. Because the tray was meant to be seen from any direction they are fully painted on the outer and inner surfaces. The vertical rims are adorned with vibrant gilded calligraphy. The English antique tray depicts Chinese figures in a landscape each scene is set with enchanting architectural embellishments and feature a couple seated at a table. Because of the angular shape of the trays the stands were designed in a complementary fashion with straight tapered legs joined by an "X" shaped stretcher that provides structural support while being visually pleasing. The tray stand has also been hand-painted and complete the ensemble. The elegant size of this tray and the height of the Stand ensures its easy use as side table placed at either end of a sofa. No matter where its placed in an interior its unusual colour and design ensure it will be a notable element in the design of a room.
