About the Item

This is the Swedish 1930s tray table from NK, Nordiska Kompaniet. It comes in a deep dark brown stained birch color, and a beautiful patina of age and use. This particular table is designed 1928 and manufactured in March 13th 1929. The metal plate marking on the underside reads: “AB NORDISKA KOMPANIET R33366 - 13 3 29”. ____________________ AB Nordiska Kompaniet, NK, was founded on January 14, 1902. The owners decided in 1903, due to the lack of furniture and lamps in the company's style at the time, to start making their own products. One year after the decision, in 1904, production started In Nordiska Kompaniets Verkstäder in Nyköping. The aim was to produce quality pieces, therefore the leading designers and architects such as Carl Malmsten, E.G. Asplund and Axel Einar Hjorth. Many iconic models of furniture and lamps have been manufactured there during the 20th century. After almost 7 decades, operations ceased in 1973.
