Vintage Oval Mahogany Butler's Coffee Tray Table in Georgian-style, Circa 1960s

About the Item

Passionate about Campaign Furnitures and travel items, we didn't miss this Butler's coffee table when we saw it on one of our client's boats moored along the Riviera D'Ulisse. It wasn't exactly in good condition but the charm of this item was evident despite the years spent at sea. Being made mostly of solid mahogany wood, our trusted restorer succeeded in the task of making this piece shine again. The heart of this vintage coffee table is rectangular, covered in mahogany veneer paneling. Semicircular panels in solid mahogany wood are fixed to each of the 4 sides of this rectangle with massive brass hinges, which can be raised to transform the top of this coffee table into a large tray. The tray has two lockable perforated handles on the sides, which allows you to lift it from the base, also made of solid mahogany wood, and move it elsewhere. The measurements of the coffee table with the sides closed are as follows: Width 90cm Height 62cm Depth 59cm The measurements of the coffee table with the top extended: Width 121cm Depth 90cm Height 48.5 cm As mentioned, this Butler's Boat Coffee Table has undergone a restoration that has made it more solid and revived the shine with a resistant polish. Reach out for any additional questions.

  • Brutalist Mirror in hammered copper in the style of A. Bragalini, Italy 1960s
    Located in Roma, IT
A mid-century mirror with an unusual and sinuous shape, the circular shape becomes three-dimensional, rising and falling, creating waves and craters just like the lunar surface. This vintage mirror is made in Italy between the 50s and 60s and recalls the work of the artist Angeli Bragalini due to its sculptural style, techniques used and use of copper. Angelo Bragalini was an Italian architect and sculptor who mastered goldsmithing techniques which he used to create works of art but also to create artefacts and furnishing accessories in his material of choice: copper. He also collaborated on the creation of scenographic elements for iconic films such as 8 1/2 (1963) and Juliet of the Spirits...

  • Georgian Mahogany Oval Butlers Tray on Stand
    Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A very good quality late 18th century, Georgian period, mahogany oval butlers tray of Panelled design, retaining original brass hinges to folding sides with pierced carrying handles, raised on later square leg mahogany stand. During the 18th and 19th centuries a coffee table was not what we regard as a coffee table in the 21st century. Coffee tables back then were always full height, effectively side tables. The modern, low, coffee table is really something which began to be seen during the early 20th century onwards. Based on the above there is a variety of different methods to incorporate a coffee table into an interior for people who wish to furnish their properties with genuine antique furniture, whilst still allowing for the practicalities and function which is required in modern times. Therefore as is now normal with by far the majority of these butlers trays which we see, due to the fact they make absolutely perfect coffee tables, this has been removed from its original, tall, folding stand at some point and fitted onto a lower, more practical and sturdy stand constructed from old antique wood. It’s worth noting that generally this means an old broken table...
