'Fleeting Glimpse', Contemporary Abstract Tapestry by Jo Barker

About the Item

The vibrancy of fleeting glimpse demonstrates Jo Barker’s deep understanding of color, tones and textures to create beautiful handwoven tapestries. Here, her use of color is challenging and exciting, combining soft pink with deeply pigmented blue and red yarns to create a work that emphasizes the physical intensity of Barker’s work. Appearing almost like a brushstroke across a canvas, Barker’s abstract design is formulated by taking photographs and drawings. These are then manipulated online and collaged with paint or ink and smudges of pastels, before she moves on to the slow construction of tapestry weaving. The saturation of color and movement in fleeting glimpse ultimately provokes intrigue and emotional response through her masterful use of material and tone.
