Jean Marc Bustamante (French b. 1951) A large format color coupler print of a beautiful European landscape juxtaposed with a an abandoned property. Edition 5 of 6. Custom crate included. Gallery Label and artist label present verso.
The photograph, shot in Switzerland, demonstrate Bustamante’s continued interest in suburban marginal spaces. “Suburban landscapes have the quality of an ‘edge,’ or a ‘border,’ and I was interested in exploring the state of ‘hanging in mid-air’ or ‘being between two things,’ which is also found within the spiritual make-up of humans. Parts of nature that humans had begun to shape but left undone—I was drawn by that state of being unfinished.”
