About the Item

Franco Farina is an artist, restaurateur, antique dealer, craftsman, writer, graduate in the conservation of the cultural heritage of Ca 'Foscari in Venice and master in conservation and characterization of stone and ceramic materials of the Faculty of Geology of Bari. He lives and works in Ostuni in the province of Brindisi, Apulia - Italy. The series of works presented bears witness to the creative Renaissance of Franco Farina - After starting his artistic career as a sculptor - he has experimented in recent years with new techniques and has created a series of poetic, original inventions dominated by female subjects and animals. His works are almost always made on a wooden support framed by a metal section nailed to the support and the funds are worked with bright and warm colors (earth and oxides, sometimes acrylic) that bring out the figurative representations. These figures come to life with the use of recycled materials, most of the time, tin and iron (old and colorful boxes of cookies or candies, soda cans) assembled and used as raw material and chromatic. Franco Farina uses the mixed technique of mosaic and collage, the combination of cold materials (iron, metal) and hot (wood and earth) that causes various chromatic and iconographic resolutions. Her most evocative works reveal in new forms, ancient myths, feminine fragility and the love of nature. This artist of contemporary figuration opens the door to a visionary and poetic world whose intrigue captures our attention to lead us to look at what we no longer see. With the "Madonna con Bambino", the Madonna and her son, which is a Christian religious representation, reflects through the artist's perspective on the contemporary issues of our societies.
