Nude in a landscape. Oil on canvas. Signed and located. CAPULETTI, José Manuel (Valladolid, 1925- Ellville am Rhein, Germany, 1978). The oil presents a landscape with a female figure with her back to the viewer in it, accompanied by other elements. The signature and the location where the work was made (Paris) are located towards the lower right corner of the work. José Manuel Capuletti Lillo del Pozo (Valladolid, 1925-Ellville am Rhein, Germany, 1978) was a self-taught Spanish painter who began his career in Valladolid and, somewhat later, in Madrid, then focusing on drawings, watercolors and portraits. From 1946 he frequented the environment of the Spanish ballets, and went on to dedicate himself to the design of sets and costumes for some companies. When he was working for the José Greco company in 1950, he met the dancer Pilar López Fernández, whom he married a year later and with whom he then settled in Paris (his wife was an important figure in his work ever since, appearing often as a model). He managed to become a recognized figure by the public and critics, working with theater and dance companies, exhibiting at the Hammer Galleries in New York, showing his work in Paris, on trips to the United States of America, etc. He returned to Spain in 1968 and settled in Mairena del Alcor (Seville), where he continued his production. In 1973 he left his house with what would be his young companion until his death, Irish Henrich, and they ended up settling in Madrid. He dies unexpectedly on a trip to Germany. His good drawing and the influence of surrealism that his work presents are usually highlighted (he is considered a student with Dalí), calling himself Neorealist, with influences from Giorgio de Chirico, Balthus, Magritte, etc. · Size: 26,5x46 cm
