19th century Dutch oval fire-painted stained glass windows by Jan Schouten Delft Serie of stained glass windows with a love scene of Psyche and Cupid, signed When it is hung in the window shows the beautiful painting through the light Johannes Lourens (Jan) Schouten (Born in Gouwsluis, December 12, 1852-Died in Delft, August 4, 1937) was a Dutch engineer and glazier, worked during 1867-1937 Measures: 26.5 cm high, 18.5 cm wide and the depth is 0.5 cm The weight is in total 835 gram Shows some age wear, see details in the pictures Schouten was born in 1852 in Gouwsluis near Alphen aan den Rijn. After his secondary education he studied at the Polytechnic School in Delft. He graduated consecutively in 1882 as a civil engineer and in 1885 as a structural engineer. His interest in glass painting was aroused by the teachers Eugen Gugel and Adolf le Comte at the polytechnic school. In 1889 Schouten founded his own glass workshop on Schoolstraat in Delft. From 1891 to 1937, this stained glass studio 't Prinsenhof was located in the Prinsenhof in Delft. He managed to connect designers and glaziers such as Herman Veldhuis, Dirk Boode and Lucas Knoll to this studio. In 1900 his work was awarded a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris.
