"Imaginary Landscape," by Masayoshi Kasugai

A beautiful composition, circa 1970 by Masayoshi Kasugai and artist who had his studio in a mountainous region of Japan. The fibers of the piece were made with various pulps, some from the "Kozo" plant (similar to mulberry), which he then hand dyed. Each piece was composed by the artist in a vat with a wire mesh bottom in which he arranged the pre-dyed pulps, creating the form he envisioned. Once complete, the composition was carefully carried out into the sun to dry. His signature is shown in the second photo.
