Large wall ceramic by Francisco Espinoza Dueñas made in Spain in the 1970s. Work of incredible quality and precision, originally mounted on a brushed stainless steel panel.
One of the most important plastic creators in the contemporary history of Peru, the master Francisco Espinoza Dueñas, has died in Seville at the age of 94; painter, engraver, muralist and potter. Humanist creator of a great plastic and conceptual language that knew how to take root what was his own and amalgamate it with the universal, tradition and modernity.
Arriving in Europe in the 1950s Francisco Espinoza Dueñas stated: “…I did not imagine in Peru, that it would be in Europe that I would rediscover my true social identity, with my profound self and its origin, I was no longer interested in faces Of the Peruvian huacos, nor the walls of the Inca fortresses, nor the fabrics of Paracas, nor the picturesque Andean landscapes, what interested me were the men who had made those works, what interested me were the men who inhabited those places, what interests me since then are the inhabitants of those same geographies and their social conditions and if my life was animated by such concerns, no matter how strong fashion had been, I could not reflect in my inventions more than an image, the one that They criticized…”
