Paris, hand-colored lithographed scene depicting a Mediterranean harbor scene with abbey, fountain, viaduct and watchtower on a hill, with two-train clock movement striking hours and halves on gong, 2 ½ in. (5,6 cm) enameled Roman dial signed "THARIN A PARIS", three-air pull-string cylinder movement and going-barrel automaton movement controlling: nodding friar reading in a tower room, musician nodding his head and tapping his foot as he strums a lute, twisting glass rod in the fountain, lady mending net by the harbor wall, a rocking ship in the foreground and two more on the horizon, a locomotive passing over the viaduct, and the flag on the watchtower fluttering in the wind. – In elaborate giltwood frame with internal printed operating instructions, frame 120x100 cm. Beautiful exhibition piece in working order.
