About the Item

The artwork gives on photo not that nice effect then in reality, by his great ! This sculptor and medallist is on 4 april 1939 born in Zele (Belgium). From his 14th year Luc Verlee at Ghent Sint-Lucas school graphics and ceramics study, then moving to the Antwerp Academy, where he continued accompanied by c. DAS and Vic Dela Cruz. He also follows the lessons of o. Strebelle in the ceramics class and at Mark M he learns hack and modelling clay. Between 1958 and 1964 is Luc active in the workplace sculpting of the national higher Institute for fine arts (NHISK) of the Antwerp Academy. Meanwhile, in 1961 he obtained the Berthe Art-price and takes from that year also regularly participate in the biennales of Middelheim. In 1965 he may also mention the Rembrandt Bugatti award on his palmares. His image of a wild boar is ended up in the Antwerp Royal Museum of fine arts. The search is not on, the theme of the sculpture in space remains Luc Verlee buoys and so he comes to visit by their architectural constructions which are sometimes somewhat geometric shapes, then again appear very organic. The most popular work of art from Luc Verlee is without doubt is "The Scam", a brother of the Brussels "Manneken Pis", that unashamedly lowering his pants in Antwerp.
