Vladimír David for Jihokera Bechyne Zodiac Tile Scorpio / Scorpion. Czech Republic, mid 20th century.
This is a great mid-century studio pottery tile depicting the Zodiac sign of the Scorpion / Scorpio. It was made by the pottery workshop Johokera from the town Bechyne in Czech Republic and is designed by pottery artist Vladimir David.
The scorpion has great colors ranging from yellow to green and a very attractive thick glaze which really takes it to a higher level. Also the shape of the scorpion is very interesting, with the curly and pointy tail. It was part of a series of pottery tiles made for all the different Zodiac signs.
Great vintage condition with no faults. You can either place it against or on the wall, depending on your own wishes.
