Giuseppe Antonio Trono (1739-1810)
A superb and incredibly detailed gouache and tempera study on unwatermarked paper measuring 43.2 x 33.8 cm.
Portugal, ca. 1790.
The gouache is signed by Giuseppe Troni, most famed for his career as a portrait painter of the royal family at the Portuguese Court between the years 1785 and 1810. At a certain point during his career in Portugal, he adopted the nickname Troni, which is the last name traditionally adopted by the scholars.
