About the Item
A charcoal drawing of a Mother with a boy on her lap, created and signed by Joaquim Francisco Lopes artist that exemplifies the essence of the primitive Modernism movement in Portugal.
Joaquim Francisco Lopes, painter of the first generation of Portuguese modernist artists, cornerstone of the primitive Porto School of Fine Arts and member of the Porto Academy of Fine Arts, was a member of the Grande Chaumière Academy and was inspired by the great French Impressionists. His painting, in oil, pastel and watercolour, is present in several Portuguese museums. He died on March 25, 1956.
