Simon Phillippe Thomassin (French, 1638-1722) Collection of six copperplate engravings (no. 173-179) of the sculptures in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles, France, framed alike Note: Commissioned by Louis XIV, Thomassin's collection of engravings were published as a guidebook of the Palace gardens in 1694 under the title Recueil des figures, groupes,themes, fontaines, vases et autres ornemens tels qu'ils se voyent a present dans le Chateau et parc de Versailles.
