About the Item
A huge commercial and critical success, Raiders of the Lost Ark smashed into movie theatres in 1981 and quickly became the highest grossing film of the year as well as going on to sweep 5 Academy Awards. Spawning four sequels, this first introduction to the iconic archeologist Indiana Jones played by the imitable Harrison Ford is widely considered one of the greatest films of all time.
The film remained in constant circulation after its first release, however this brilliant poster design by Richard Amsel is from the first official re-release of the film in 1982. Amsel is well known for designing this and the first release "Raiders of the Lost Ark" poster, as well as the likes of "The Sting".
