Cuban vintage movie poster of 1978 Star studded film – Death on the Nile – Silkscreen by Reboiro in 1980. Titled “muerte en el nilo – film en ingles- dir: john guillermin – con: bette davis david niven mia farrow” – Printed reboiro/80 and ink signed reboiro. Condition: Very Good. No issues. Measurements: 18 inches wide x 28 inches high Antonio Fernández Reboiro is a Cuban Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1935. He studied medicine and architecture at the University of Havana. In 1963 he began working at the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry) until 1982 designing posters. Most of the highly collectible Cuban posters are from mid-1960s through early 1980s, the period called “el periodo de oro de la grafica cubana” (golden period of Cuban graphics). These silkscreens were develop with new graphic techniques, due in part that materials were not readily available and lack of formal graphic schools. The Cuban posters became known for the use of bold innovate images which were mostly for proganda. Alvarez wrote and directed documentaries about Cuban and American culture. He became head of ICAIC newsreel division in the 60s and developed an unique format for his docu films. This colorful lithographic poster depicts the popular 1941 film A Yank in the R.A.F., directed by Henry King and produced by Twentieth Century-Fox. The black-and-white film describes a story that takes place early during World War II, in which a young American man, Baker, joins the British Royal Air Force (R.A.F.) in a time when the United States was still enforcing the Neutrality Acts. The British R.A.F. advertised for assistance during 1940, and a total of 271 American citizens joined during the years of 1940 and 1942.
