A rare Italian poster by Leopoldo Metlicovitz, 1912. This stunning two sheet piece advertises the operetta "The Blue Spider," composed by A. Randegger.

Metlicovitz (1868-1944) is considered one of the masters of Italian poster art. He began his career as a trainee at Ricordi in Milan, without the benefit of any prior formal artistic training and within a year, became the technical director. Metlicovitz was a prolific artist and created some of Italy's most beloved poster images.
