About the Item

Original antique advertising poster for Castell A.W. Faber stationery supplies featuring a young athlete throwing a green AW Faber pencil as a javelin with another javelin thrower and spectators watching the background, all dressed in ancient toga clothing, the stylised Castell lettering and castle logo above and rest of the text in yellow against the green grass below. Founded by Kaspar Faber in 1761, the A.W. Faber Company is a manufacturer of pens and pencils, writing instruments, office supplies and art materials; the family run business introduced these green Castell pencils in c.1905 under Ottilie von Faber and her husband Count Alexander zu Castell-Rudenhausen. Good condition, creasing, tears, staining, small paper losses on edges.
