Original vintage London Transport poster for Pipers Green Edgware A fayre and pleasant retreat from ye bustle of ye citye Live At Edgware featuring medieval style artwork depicting illustrations in the countryside including farmers working the fields with horses and the road to St Albans, a man sleeping under a tree, people gathering hay, various animals including pigs, birds and dogs, ladies dancing with a man in a jester hat playing music on a pipe, a castle and village buildings, archery and a man cutting trees with stylised lettering above about the Ancient Custom of Eggeswere of the Lord of the Manor providing a piper for the tenants so they can make merrie and be of light heart while working, fun descriptions in scrolls around the decorative design and the title text with the London Underground logo below. The historic town of Edgware is located in north London; Edgware tube station opened in 1924 (when the area was a village with open fields). Printed by John Waddington Ltd Leeds and London. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, restored folds, minor staining, browning, discolouration, backed on linen.
