About the Item
Original vintage travel advertising poster for Germany published by the German State Railway RDV Reichsbahnzentrale fur den Deutschen Reiseverkehr featuring a stunning Art Deco design by the notable German graphic designer and poster artist Jupp Wiertz (Joseph Lambert Wiertz; 1888-1939) showing a scenic night view in the rain of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin with cars, buses and pedestrians illuminated by the streets lights and advertising lights on the surrounding buildings with floodlights shining on the church, the title above and rest of the text below: Information and handbooks from all tourist and travel agencies. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church was built on Breitscheidplatz public square in the centre of Berlin during the 1890s and opened in 1906; it was badly damaged during a World War Two bombing raid in 1943 and only partly rebuilt from 1959-1963; the damaged spire was retained and its ground floor is now a memorial. Printed in Germany. Good condition, restored crease marks, restored tears, restored paper losses on edges, restored pinholes, trimmed edge, minor staining, backed on linen.
