Art Deco poster of African and Oceanic inspiration depicting a Punu mask from Gabon and a monumental Moai statue from the Easter Islands.
Paul Colin (27 June 1892 – 18 June 1985) born in Nancy, France, died in Nogent-sur-Marne.
Paul Colin is an artist, scenographer, graphic designer and theatre painter.
He is one of the most important French poster artist of the 1920s and 1930s, during his lifetime he created over 1500 posters and worked in theatre for more than 40 years.
His art is strongly in the style of the Art Deco movement. Many of his most famous illustrations were created for Jazz Age music and theatre. His designs for Josephine Baker are among the most famous images of her. He designed posters for artists and theatres such as Folies Bergères, the Moulin Rouge and the Champs Elysées Theatre.
