EARLY ART DECO ERA. THIS IS A STUDY OF SOME OF THE
MORE IMPORTANT PIECES OF CHARLETS' WORK.
EACH PIECE WAS METICULOUSLY DRAFTED IN A DECO STYLE
WHICH WAS TYPICAL. IDENTIFIED WITH SUPERB DRAPERY,
OPULENCE AND TOTAL EXCESS WHICH WAS THE HALLMARK OF
THIS THEATRICAL PERIOD, CHARLET TOOK A STEP FURTHER AND PRODUCED THE PRINTS IN BRIGHT, SOMETIMES VIVID COLOURS USING A POCHOIR PROCESS. HAND COLOURED USING STENCILS AS A BLOCK, COMBINED WITH HIS ABILITY TO IMPLY AFFLUENCE AND MAJESTY USING THIN VERTICAL LINES AND WITH AN ILLUSION OF HANGING TAPESTRIES, EACH PRINT BECAME IT'S OWN STAGE.
