Yow Blue African Contemporary Print on Giclée Hahnemühle Abstract Expressionism

About the Item

Since the sudden passing of the designer’s brother who was the tender age of 21, designer Kwaku Boateng also Riich Boateng painted Yow Blue as a tribute. The painting was an outlet for the pain he felt during this period. Raised in west Africa, the piece reflects this with its contemporary African style as he poured his emotions into every brush stroke. The royal blue colour references the deep sadness he felt during this time. My Dear Yow "Since you left this world, there's been a hole in my heart, and I've been trying to find ways to mend it, but that space was for you and that's how it will stay. Truth be told, even though you came into my life later on, you were the brother that I didn't know I needed and wanted. Was I like you or were you like me? No, we were like each other, and I knew the storm ahead and couldn't wait to guide you through it. All I wanted to do from that moment is stand by you and bear all of your troubles as your big brother. Together we were going to rewrite all the wrongs of the past from those before us and take over the world. My greatest sadness is knowing that you've gone before your time and we'd only just gotten started. All I ever wanted was to see you run because with all of that courage and every recent positive energy, Lord knows you were a force that could not be contained. That was one of your superpowers, and how you went... being yourself to the fullest. Together, we got lost in our own world as we were the missing piece from each other's story, and we no longer had to go through this journey of life alone. You were going to show me Ghana, and I was going to show you Trinidad. Now that the dust has settled, Yow, I want you to know this... what you left with me is a new lease on life, courage, strength, and love to take forward. I love and miss you, but I ask you this... watch over me as I go forth." Studio: Triqis is the design studio of Kwaku Boateng and Louis, two product designers based in London. Louis, whose life began in France before moving to Iceland, where he would grow up, before settling in the UK in 2015. Kwaku's designs are influenced by his stories, being raised in the Caribbean and the United Kingdom equally before settling in the UK permanently in 2014.
