Chinese telescopic fan of gilt decorated black lacquer stays with paper painted in gauche in the Mandarin palette. Archival mount in a shadow box frame. China, made for the Western trade, mid 19th century.

    Wear consistent with age and use. The silk on the fan is faded and fragments are missing on some of the smaller silk inserts, but the colors are exceptionally vibrant. Wear commensurate with age and use.
