Painted Late 18th Century Swedish Wall Cabinet Dated 1778

About the Item

A charming 18th century wall hanging cabinet, Swedish, dated 1779 and with the initials L.O. Original painted finish in a soft green with orange highlights and with decorative foliate panel to door and the same pattern painted to the cornice and plinth. The door with original lock, hinges and iron key opens smoothly and there is a fixed original shelf inside the cupboard. Below this a single drawer with original iron ring handle. The cupboard peg jointed throughout including the fixings of the oak boarded back. Small chips and losses, a section of the left hand side plinth depleted. A few old worm holes, treated and long since dead. Designed to be wall hung, with some fixings for this purpose on the back board. A practical and very pretty early wall cupboard. Delightful! Dimensions are: 23.5 inches wide, 11.5 inches deep and 25 inches high. For metric please multiply by 2.5.
