Pair of Circular Glass and Brass Display Shelves, 20th Century, European
About the Item
A pair of circular glass and brass shelves, for display or storage, second half of the 20th century, unsigned.
The shelves were found in Europe, and were perhaps used for shop display, as both have an aged patina and signs of use including scratches and nicks. We have described the items as in "fair" condition to draw attention to these points. That said, for us they remain nice vintage pieces, very useful. The thick glass shelves are clear, with a slight green tint, and are supported by brackets of tubular brass, which could serve as a hanging point for light items. Simple, stylish design and very nice quality manufacture, possibly Italian.
The glass is held in place on the brackets using three hex grub screws, and the brackets attach to the wall through holes on the back plate. The glass means these are heavy pieces, which will require suitable installation and wall fixings (not supplied).
The first and last images have been created from one of the two pieces; the final image in black and white is included to illustrate the shape.
Approximate dimensions for each piece:
H 11.2cm height of the back plate
W 34.1cm diameter of the glass; the glass is 15mm thick
D 35.6cm approximate projection from the back of the wall plate to the front of the glass
The shelves will be dismantled for shipping.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. Wear to the glass from age and use including scratches and a very small nick on the back of one disc; brass has an aged patina with some scratches and oxidation.
