Ottoman Mother-of-Pearl and Ebony Inlaid Wall Bracket Syrian, 19th Century Height 103cm, width 39cm, depth 21cm Inlaid with mother-of-pearl and ebony in intricate geometric and foliate parquetry patterns, this beautiful piece was made in Syria in the nineteenth century during the time of the Ottoman Empire. With a central latticed rectangular panel at the back of the central shelf, with canted corners, it is flanked on each side by pillars with isometric triangular shaped cresting. The upper section, like the lower part, features foliate rather than geometric designs, and the surmount with a crescent finial features a large central roundel enclosing a mother-of-pearl inlaid tughra.
