Ceramic Wall Relief by Rut Bryk

Rut Bryk (Finland, 1916-1999) was, like her famous husband, Tapio Wirkkala, a formgiver of exquisite sensitivity and idiosyncrasy.

This ceramic wall relief, made by Rut Bryk in bisque, with turquoise and grey accents, is beautifully representative of her "signature" piece: the delicate, abstract, three-dimensional mosaic built from smaller, handmade ceramic components. These award-winning, sculptural panels were often created for site-specific installations, and only very rarely show up for public sale. This piece is thus a precious opportunity -- not only for the collector, but for anyone needing a highly unusual artifact to animate a wall.
